CROFT 08.06.02
Friday and with it came rain, the bike slid off the ramp putting it in the van and took the bark off my shin, not a good start but things did brighten up. No rain at Croft when I arrived, I was pleased as the bike was sporting a new set of boots. We unloaded and set up then started to unburden the cooler box of its alco-pop content. Neil and Duncan arrived at 10 bells still buzzing from their TT exploits, the rest of the night is history.
Saturday morning, RAIN and wet practice to follow and I love an excuse to don my gimp-suit (Rubber wet-suit). Practice was fine although I took it easy because of the new tyres. The next session was delayed because of an oil spill, so our next was after lunch and by now dry.
RACE 1:
What a twat, a slipping clutch gave me a shit start and although I was maybe just outside the top ten a bit of grass tracking at sunny in left me dead last. I was slowly clawing back a couple of places when the race was stopped on lap 5 when one of the big twins, which was on our grid, crashed at Hawthorn. The race was to be re-run over 5 laps giving me a second bite at the cherry. A better start, I think I was in tenth position when the field opened evend out, I could see my old rival David Dobson in front, I much prefer him behind and this is where he ended up. So ninth in this race and happy with it.
RACE 2:
A better race after Neil fettled my clutch and Duncan 'Stumpy' Baillie in my sights albeit not for long. I lost a couple of places over the first couple of laps, but I knew I was in the top ten and confident I could catch the two bikes in front of me. I did manage to get one and the other I may have was the race over ten laps, but it had been cut to 6 laps due to earlier delays. Neil counted me in - in seventh position, but the official result gave me tenth (Blind F***ing Bastards)
Overall a good weekend I'm happy and Neil is Happy, and if Neil is happy every F***er is happy.
All the best
Graeme
