In early 2001, a West Lothian business man, Gordon Bradford (owner of Broxburn Tyres & Exhausts) together with ex-racer Neil Black, formed the Barking Spider Race Team and approached Duncan to carry the Broxburn Tyres flag. The main objective was to help Duncan in his up and coming race career and this was realised at the end of the season when Duncan finished in the top 10 of the Scottish production 400 Championship.

Since then, the Barking Spider Team has been to many of the UK's race tracks, bringing back results as high as race wins and several trophies. The team was expanded to include Jenny Black (Neil's wife) when the team took part in the lightweight 400 Class at the Isle of Man TT in 2002.
